NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME(NSS)
National Service Scheme is a student – centered programme and it is complementary to education. The overall aim of NSS is the Personality Development of students through community service. It gives an extension dimension to Higher Education system and orients the student youth to community service. The NSS unit of our college has been very active since 2005. The college NSS unit under one programme officer enrolls 100 volunteers and conducts regular activities and Special Camps every year.
NSS helps our students to grow individually and also as a group. It makes our students confident, develop leadership skills, and gain knowledge about different people from different walks of life. Our students also learn other skills that help them lead a better life in various situations.
Objectives
- To understand the community in which they work.
- To understand themselves in relation to their community.
- Develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
- Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
- To extend the national integration and social harmony.
Motto
The motto of NSS is “Not me, but You”. There are various camps that the NSS conducts but the major works done are:
- Cleaning
- Afforestation
- Stage shows or parade creating awareness on social problems, education, cleanliness etc
- Inviting doctors for health camps.
- Most of these camps are conducted in rural places or sub-urban areas.

2014-15
A seven Day Special Camp was organized in Ayeththakkuttai Village, Elachipalayam Union. 150 NSS Volunteers participated in the special camp from 12.03.2015 to 18.03.2015. Maintenance works were done in the Panchayat Middle School, Panchayat office and also cleaning and clearing the thorny bushes around the village. A Free Dental Check-up Camp was organized along with Thiruchengode Vivekanandha Dental College. In the camp 350 old people and school-going children were benefitted. Students created awareness among the public about the Abolition of Child Labour, women’s Education, Importance of Voting, Environmental Pollution etc.
