About the Department
The Department of Computer Science and Computer Applications was established in 2005. Our mission is to practice young women in the field of computer to acquire many opportunities and ensure that they have a solid foundation in the core concepts, equip them with problem solving and decision making skills and prepare them for lifelong learning in the discipline. Department also encourages collegial, intellectual and academic growth of its faculty. The department offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate Courses and the Research Programme in Master of Philosophy.

3 years with 6 semesters.
Eligibility
A pass in Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Computer Science/ Statistics as one of the subject or any other examination accepted as equivalent by the syndicate of the Periyar University.
Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.)
Duration of the course
3 years with 6 semesters.
Eligibility
A pass in Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Computer Science/ Statistics as one of the subject or any other examination accepted as equivalent by the syndicate of the Periyar University.
M.Sc. (Computer Science)
Duration of the course
2 years with 4 semesters.
Eligibility
A pass in B.Sc. Computer Science / B.Sc. Information Sciences / B.Sc. Computer Technology / B.C.A / B.Sc. Information Technology) from any recognized University.
M.Phil. (Computer Science)
Duration of the course
1 year with 2 semesters.
Eligibility
- Candidates who have qualified their Postgraduate degree in Computer Science/Computer Applications/Software Science/Computer Communication/Information Technology/Software Engineering/Theoretical Computer Science/Computer Technology/Information Science and Management/ Information Technology and Management of Periyar University or any other University recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Computer Science and undergo the prescribed course of study in an approved institution or Department of this University.
- Candidates who have qualified their postgraduate degree on or after 1 January 1991 shall be required to have obtained a minimum of 55% of marks in their respective postgraduate degrees to become eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and undergo the prescribed course of study in an approved institution or department of this University.
- For the candidates belonging to SC/ST community and those who have qualified for the Master’s degree before 01.01.1991 the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master’s Degree.
